Actually it's $54/year including the greenslip for HCRS, + $35 for the original purchase of the H plate. Of course it comes with a lot of restrictions and fines of around $1,500 if caught using the vehicle outside the regulations because the vehicle is considered unregistered/uninsured when used outside the rules.Quote:

i was looking at rego papers from 2006 tax was only about $90.
so when getting a blue slip what things do they check for?
are they normally fairly strict on the old landies?
How strict will be dependent largely on who is doing it. As I understand it, they are supposed to check for the same as a pink slip, plus checking that the vehicle is exactly as described; that is, that there is nothing dodgy about its identity, and that all its details match - i.e. no modifications, has the engine it should, etc.Quote:

what do people do if they put a holden engine in years ago and now go to get rego?
Someone who has been there will be able to help, but I believe that in NSW there will be no problems provided you can prove the engine was in it when it was last registered (either the old papers, or if it was registered fairly recently it may be still on the system) and the installation looks reasonably professional.Quote:

Oh - and in addition to the approx $900 - $1000 rego/third party cost don't forget the roadworthy cost, the stamp duty, admin fee for an unregistered vehicle and the cost of plates.
I got a box trailer registered yesterday - $69 rego, $45 Admin (including plates) and $27 stamp duty - will be much more for a landie.
