Although they will screw together they are not strictly interchangeable, because they are different thread forms.

2B.A. 47 1/2 degree thread angle; teeth per inch(TPI) 31.3
3/16 B.S.F. 55deg thread angle; TPI 32

Using the two together, will ultimately result in a poor hold and the threads becoming damaged,
