Thread: Limestone vs Classic Cream

One problem I have found with the rust guard and white knight epoxy products is they oxidise and lose their shine much quicker than the original paints you apply with a gun.

One thing that you may be happy to learn is that the classic cream is probably a closer colour match to the earlier S2/S2a. The late S2a had more of a yellow hue.

So, Diana, there are 2 Limestone paint codes - an early one and a late one?

Will be following this closely as I am getting ready to paint the roof of my 1960 series 2, any more info on this colour will be awesome

I was actually surprised at how buttery and yellow the colour was when I used it.

Either way, Garry, Lettie will look lovely.

Although, I have since decided that I am going with body colour, being a Series II. I know it is the wrong body colour, but I decided the wheels may as well be the same wrong colour!

Yes there are two "limestone colours" one from about 1967 which is slightly off white with a yellow tint base and a later one in the SIII Stage 3 era which is much more cream (see below).



But before either or those colours there was an off white colour with almost a blue tint base used on series 1 and series 2/2a roofs and sometimes also their wheels. This is the one I feel is more like the classic cream at the head of this thread.

I remember a guy at one of the British car shows held locally saying there was an arttic White which was white with a blue tint, as I am not versed in the paint codes I just agreed as his roof defently had a blueish tint to the White.

I have so far used my local paint supplier to colour match the parts, he did alright for the green, so am taking him my roof to be coloured matched

I understand my IIa 6cyl ute is Limestone.

Here is a pic so you can see the panels are all the same colour, because they don't look it in the next pic.



These wheels were blasted and powdercoated in a colour which I think was called Magnolia (thanks Bacicat!). If it wasn't that it was some flower. Never the less, the powdercoat colour looked to me like it was a match when comparing with the the sample.
