Thanks Gents for the kind comments, today is the day both gearboxes go to the fixes to hopefully make one good one!
Really need to go and get my stuff from Harry at Series rescue but have been away in Sydney watching the classic motorbike racing and the weather at the moment is crap so might have to leave it until next week!

Out of interest, your engine is a military one, and it was originally fitted to a 1969 2a radio truck. (A FFT as they were called).

This vehicle had an army registration number of 175 258, and was auctioned in September 1982. Details are courtesy of REMLR.

Who knows how this engine got into your vehicle, it was probably removed from the army 2A and put into yours, but anything is possible!

The twin crank pulley and 8 bladed fan are part of the military spec, and it would have originally have had a Lucas generator as well as a big 24 volt radio battery generator fitted instead of the current alternator.

A good bit of history, and part of your vehicles story.

    Cheers,

    Mike.

Sorry to delve back into your thread but I was looking for some how too's from your build which is immensely helpful when I found this reference to twin crank pulley and eight blade fan. I'm assuming my 88 has also had a military engine transplant as every where in places that haven't seen light of day for fifty years panel wise, are glossy deep bronze green but I have eight blade fan and twin crank pulley
    Food for thought
    Cheers Paul

Well its time for a bit of body!
All the gal bit have been removed, all the glass has been removed now its time for blasting!
Two piles, smaller pile is for just blasting as that pile will be hand sanded and then sent to the galvanisers, the other pile will be wet blasted and lightly primed then sent to "Harry @ series rescue" who will do his magic on the panels. The transmission will also be ready at some point next week!

    Hi Paul,
Yes your engine will more than likely be a ex-military unit.
Thank you for your comments on my thread, hope you get more useful info out of it.
