    S2a 88 for hoops/canvas cover

    Hi all,
Currently restoring a 1962 2a 88 with the standard hardtop. I want to fit hoops and a canvas rear cover instead. Does anyone know of an Australian supplier or should I get sent from UK? Exmoor trim look ok but no word on how UV resistant their canvas is.

    Cheers
    Richard

    Hi Richard,

Following the Series 2 Club's pages, the Exmoor tilt gets very mixed reviews from "fits fine" to "bloody awful" and as you don't deal with them directly, you need to try and sort issues with the intermediary who acts as their agent.

Undercover Covers have very good reviews from club members, but their website is a bit cumbersome. Still worth making contact though through the contacts page.

They're in Mosely, just up the road from Lode Lane, Solihul

    Cheers,

I bought a canvas cover from the U.K. Unfortunately the bloke's business attitude I had to deal with was a bit Lah-di-dah., which is not what you want when you send off $1000.
The quality was not as good as the one I had made in Australia . I always have the feeling that they're waiting for a mug from overseas to unload their slightly substandard wares on. They know very well you wouldn't pay return freight just because of a few blemishes ,mistakes or imperfections.

You can deal with Exmoor direct.
The 'tyranny of distance' may cause problems getting issues sorted with any UK supplier.

    Thanks for that Colin!

I've never managed to deal with them (make a purchase) directly as they've always referred me to one of their suppliers. They are very good to talk to and get advice though.

I'll have to splash for a full set of Series 2 seats at some point and having quoted 3 suppliers, they are all within $10 of each other with the price. Exmoor must somehow regulate the price as its very unlikely 3 suppliers at different ends of the UK will be that close.

Postage is a very different matter though, nearly $150 difference between top and bottom quotes.

I'll be buying my hood from WW Spares when the time comes. My opinion that they are the best on the market...

Red Rocket makes them for the military fraternity. He hasn't been on here for about a year, though.

He is Restless Rover on REMLR.

    Lou,
I was dealing with their Export Manager direct and ordered a set of Dormobile seat covers in Elephant Hide which arrived recently.
Damiane on the forum also got prices from them for covers & Elephant Hide by the metre.

Maybe it's different for full seat sets ?

I got a full set of DeLuxe seats for my series III from Paddocks a while back (probably **itpart). Look good until you look at the bases which are thin MDF (hopefully water resistant MDF......).

There is a swb canvas on eBay at the mo. It is new, Exmoor trim and not a bad price. It's sat in my watched items.
