Finally fitted a newer style thermostat housing with a thermostat. Another job ticked off the list.
I decided to set the brake and clutch pedals to the correct height. Then when I went to adjust the clutch slave rod I found it had all sorts of welding done to it and no nut. So waiting on a new one of them to arrive.
I found my oil light would flicker at idle after I had been driving for a fair while. I did notice that the pressure switch didn't look like a legit one so I have replaced it. Hoping that's all it is and not a sign of something worse.

Question about brake adjustments. 3 of my 4 brakes will not lock up when adjusting the brake cam. Which I have been told should be able to happen. Everything is new though, drums, pads and cam adjusters. I fitted the black cams as per the instructions. Does anyone have an idea of what could be causing this? My uncle who was with my has suggested either the cams are wrong, I can't find the silver ones to see if they are any better or the pad needs machining to fit the drums. It got too late to get into pulling off pads to see how they sit in the drums. I thought I would check there isn't some know series querk I am not thinking off. Thanks.

With all new components, this should not happen - I can only think of incorrect assembly (can't think how) or out of tolerance or incorrect parts.

I am certainly confused by it all. I have checked my ordered and I definitely fitted 10" drums and 10" shoes and used the black cam on the adjuster which is for the SWB cars.

Could it be caused by someone fitting different axles to the car during its past? Like maybe the axles of a LWB has been put on and therefor it needs the different cam on the adjuster?

The lwb has 11" brakes, so none of the parts for the 10" brakes would fit, so that does not seem likely to be the problem.

I suggest the first thing to check would be the drum diameter - the manual specifies the limits for this, and you don't need much oversize to run out of adjustment. Another possibility worth checking is that the post the adjuster bears against is not loose - I have an idea that I have heard of this being the case on new shoes. Check by marking with chalk or similar how much of the shoe is contacting the drum - might suggest whether the shoe or lining is out of tolerance.

Finally got time to have a look at what's going on. Pulled off a drum and pads, noticed the pads only look worn for about an inch at each end. Dropped them into the drop and sure enough, there is a gap most of the way between the pad and drum. Will take them into a brake place and have them relined and ground to fit properly. Also measured the drum and it is will within tolerance. I am yet to remove the other 2 which are also acting up but I would suspect they will have the same issue. Odd one works fine and three didn't.
