    Coolant seen under rocker cover

Greetings Gentlemen and Hot shot mechanics all!

This is under the rocker cover of my 1964 Series 2a 88, 2.25 L petrol.

Can anyone tell me where to look for the leak?

It had a head gasket replaced (professionally not by me !) less than 1000 km ago.

    kind regards,

Most likely the core plug under where the coolant is, possibly a cracked head (not likely in my view).

Must admit I have not seen anything quite like that - usually the oil and coolant are fairly well mixed up. Did it leak like that with the engine not running?

If one core plug is leaking the other three would be suspect. They should be replaceable without removing the head.

I'm with JD on this one, and like he said it must have just leaked out without the engine running otherwise it would be discoloured and spread further, cheers Dennis

Yep- many thanks. Its been on axle stands for a month or so whilst I do the swivel housings, just thought Id re check the valve clearances while I was at it- a very specific little leak. There is a tiny little leak --> ground from somewhere, Id assumed was a heater hose, accounting for minor coolant loss but maybe it was the plug all along. Pretty sure my local LR specialist garage would've checked the head for cracks before reattaching.

    thanks again,
