Galvanising

I just scraped the big bits off and pressure washed the pieces I had done. Also be aware that sand blasting will affect the finish.

Regarding tapped holes getting filled up with gal, if you fill up the tapped hole with silastic, it will keep the acid out of the hole and when they dip the product into the molten zinc the silastic may burn away, but the zinc wont be attracted to the steel because it has not been cleaned by the acid.

Sorry Tim, what do you mean, in what manner does it affect?? Are you indicating not to sandblast before galvanizing.

You will not get a smooth finish if younsand blast also galv will have dull finish.
