Thread: back to AULRO with 71 lwb preservation project

I am returning to aulro after several years away . I started in 2011 with a freelander 2 while living in Darwin and have since retired and moved to Apsley Victoria .Having restored a 64 swb about 30 years ago which I still have but needs a full job again i decided to spend some of my retirement time restoring another one ,this time a 71 lwb cab chassis in good original condition .the body required no work but the chassis had a few rust problems , the front spring hangers (dumb irons ) were badly rusted and a section of the rear rails where the tray bolted on . The rails were easy but the dumb irons were a write off , I replaced them with new pieces cleaned , primed and painted the whole chassis replaced the seats and fitted a duraguard ? interior and a bit of electrical work . I now have it on club rego and have done a bit of work with it which included carting a large tandem of red gum and 3 vintage engines . Now I am replacing the clutch ,it was probably a bit ordinary in the first place so not to bothered about it . While I have the engine removed I am replacing the oil seals front and back also the seals in the clutch withdrawal unit , I cant find much info on the sealed unit and had a bit of trouble obtaining parts . I am now reassembling the unit but cannot find information on setting the forks in the correct position as the sealed unit has a protruding brass collar that the seal sits in and I am dot sure how to position the sleeve in relation to the hole in the shaft . I would appreciate some help with this problem . I tried to upload some photos with no success I will post this and try with the photos .
