Well today I rebuild the Carby today. Fairly easy process until my wife told me we had to be somewhere in 45 mins!!

I think I damaged the gasket to the top plate. So i've gone from black smoke to backfiring, still no control from the fuel / air fixture screw (not surprisingly). So another gasket on the way!!

Cleaned and refreshed the oil in the air cleaner today.

Finally have the old girl purring, after the air cleaner, I replaced the plugs and it idles and runs beautifully.

Also found what was causing the knock in the clutch pedal, the front propshaft was is backwards. I did realise that there was a difference!

Whenever I take a Landy for a RWC I park around the corner with some "brake & parts cleaner" and a rag, then climb under and delete all the oil leaks , works every time.

FWIW, It may be a case of if there are two fitted then they must work.

Two months ago I could have helped you with a couple of those items,

but I had the shed cleared out so that all went to the Land Rover Club in Adelaide. Talk about a pair of scavengers!

There was only one wiper, there are holes for two but no witness marks that another was fitted, therefore I assume there was only ever one. The mechanic questioned whether it required two.....

When I moved from the NT to NSW in 1966, one of the requirements for registration in NSW was to fit the second wiper to my 1961 2a. I don't know about Victoria.
