Both are possibilities probabilities. The bell housing does not have to clear it by much though.
Didn't think about the capacity of the master cylinder. I'll have to dig out the one from the 109 that I'm salvaging parts from.
While under the car today I noticed that the bell housing is sitting on one of the crossmembers, my initial thoughts are:
1 - old loose engine and gearbox mounts (are these easy to replace with taking out the engine?)
2 - the crossmembers has some damage and may have been knocked up

Both are possibilities probabilities. The bell housing does not have to clear it by much though.

Can you change the engine and gearbox mounts without pulling the engine and gearbox out?

Yes.

Does someone know the part number of the adjustable bracket for the alternator?![]()

1963 LWB Series 2a UTE
That is a generator (AUS) or dynamo (UK), not an alternator, and the adjustable bracket is 514472.

Series 2A--- 514472

That Generator is from a Series One , dated 6-54
For reliability sake you'd be better off fitting an Alternator to be honest .
The date does not matter, as long as it's a LU22258
.W.
I would agree, but Series 2s are getting rare enough that you might want to put authenticity above reliability. (My 2a has an alternator - I have a long history of failing generators, usually the rear bush failing. They don't like dust, but careful and regular maintenance helps.)
