It makes more sense to me to have the switch that way, for one your keys can swing freely
Cheers Paul
Is that important?
I doubt whether that aspect entered the designer's head back then. Houses were not locked & to have a 2nd or even a 3rd vehicle then was in the future somewhat. The Chicken Coop had a hook latch on it.
Just sayin'
No one picked the series 3 fuel/temperature gauge with added high beam indicator light
Come on guys your slipping, something odd about the speedo too
dash in question is to the right of second photo

Without looking back, I seem to remember both of these were discussed earlier. The orientation of the light switch was not.

I've got what appears to be a genuine instrument panel with a hole for a combined temperature/oil pressure gauge, you could have. On the right hand side there is unfortunately an enlarged or an extra home made hole.

As far as I know, that combined gauge was only fitted there by Rover Australia for military Landrovers. Civilian ones used a subpanel, usually just to the right of the instrument panel, but this subpanel was used on the military ones for the blackout switch.

Thanks for the offer of the instrument panel, I have some unmolested ones hanging in my shed, but the positioning of the gauge on yours is interesting, I’d have to turn my ignition switch around.
seriously hang on to it there maybe someone doing a military restoration who would like it, I have panels to return my panels into original configuration if need be.
Thanks again
Cheers Paul
