BSF are hard to find in many sizes. Very little demand so normal commercial fastener shops don't stock them. There are specialist hobbyist suppliers who have a good range. B.S.F Bolts (Bruce Gardner) in Melbourne and Classic Fasteners in Adelaide come to mind. Probably cheaper to source them from o'seas in kit form. Likewise BSC (Cycle Thread). Most bolt shop workers were not born when BSF and BSC were in common use.
You are probably correct about 3 threads I am trying to remember back 50 years when I was an apprentice mechanic.

Bolt kits from the UK are over $1,000 plus freight, there's a lot of bolts in a Land Rover.

Did the previous owner keep all the old bolts ?

Series 2/2a was produced during Rover's change from British threads to Unified threads. Most body bolts were Unified threads, but a lot of the mechanical bits use a combination that changed during production. All engine threads should be Unified (except for a few specials!). Small screws, notably holding the instrument panel, but also in electrical bits are BA.

Most body bolts were sherardised to prevent corrosion.

Thankyou, W, that looks like what I would be after. Do you have a photograph of the front cover or a ISBN? There are lots on ebay. Some are quite expensive. For that amount of money, I'd like to make sure I have the right one.

Yes. The seller looks as if he kept everything.
I'm sure he used some to mend the gate, some to mend the mower, and the rest are distributed in various jars, tins and boxes throughout the shed. If I buy it, the bolts won't be part of the sale. I won't know which ones are missing.

As you can see it has had a rough life. There are a few Land Rover publications on the market with similar covers. Make sure it says Parts Catalogue ,Series 2&2A, the part no. is 4187. I'm afraid I can't comment on the reprints.
Good luck, in my opinion it's money well spent.

This is my parts catalogue. Technical Publication No. TP365A . Part No. 4656.
I bought it second hand probably over ten years ago.

These books predate ISBN and it's predecessors.

1964 edition is probably more suitable for a 2A , mine, I think is 60 or 61. (The first page is torn)

Probably more useful* than my book, which is Part No. RTC9840CC!

    * For rebuilding, possibly not for ordering parts though!

Offer to buy him a selection of new bolts if he includes the bolts that came from the Land Rover.
Alternatively start to negotiate the price down based on having to import over $1,000 of nuts & bolts plus shipping & duty.

You can often go to Trash & Treasure markets and get new nuts & bolts as people clear out their sheds. You could get him a selection and top up his jars......

    Best of luck.
