Series 3 aircleaner is the same as Series 2/2a - provided the engines have the same number of cylinders. That is, both petrol and diesel four cylinder engines are the same, but the six is different.
As Homestar says, yours would have had a Solex originally, but in the 1970s-90s a second hand Stromberg off a Holden was dirt cheap compared to overhauling the Solex. While it works, it is not ideal for this vehicle.
The Solex carburettor is harder to understand, but usually works well and needs little attention.
In 1965 they merged with Zenith, and this was probably the reason that later Series 2a used a Zenith carburettor. This is easier to work on than the Solex (in my view), which is just as well, since they can be quite troublesome. The Zenith needs an adapter between it and the manifold, but otherwise the two types are interchangeable. New Zeniths are available.
