learn to double clutch or flick shift at low speeds.
no syncro on first means no syncro on second
Hi all, after a few runs in my recently completed s2a project, I am wondering if I have an issue with second gear.
I thought my gearbox ought to have synchro on second with only first gear being non-synchro. So either the gearbox doesn't have synchro on second or I have a problem. My gearbox serial number is 2550 3891 F
Any clues appreciated ?
Thanks
John

You need to learn to double clutch. The technique helps when you need to rev change the next time that the clutch hydraulics fail.

As above,
You can clearly see here that gearbox is in 1st & 2nd has dog engagement, Only Synchro hub in sight is 3rd-4th
1st gear is straight cut sliding mesh, 2nd gear is helical cut constant mesh with dog engagement, 3rd and 4th are helical cut constant mesh with synchro hub engagement.

Ah ok, for some reason I thought there was synchro on 2nd for the late 2a gearboxes.
Thanks
John
Late 2a had an optional all synchro box - but it seems to have been only fitted to home market station wagons (a very few of which may have found their way here!). Similar to but not identical to the S3 box.
