Ah! I now see it is a station wagon. This explains the roof lining and other deluxe trim items. Put the chassis number into Clifton Scientific Text Services, the Netherlands will tell you roughly when it was made.

Yeah I've done that..
The 109 says ckd, 2 significant design modifications, suffix used from April 66 - April 67
And the 88 says ckd, 6 significant design modifications , suffix used from April 69 - October 71.
What are the "significant design modifications" ?

When the Series 2a took over from Series 2, the major difference was a new chassis numbering system. The first of these was to add an "A" suffix to the number. From then on, while continuing to make continuing changes, whenever the changes accumulated significantly, they went to the next letter. Some steps aremuch more significant than others - probably the most significant is from suffix "C" to "D", with the changes including, major electrical changes (pos to neg earth, different instruments, different wiper setup etc.), also went to the bent handbrake lever.
But some differences are not tied to the suffix - for example there were four different types of tail light, with noconsistency as to when they were used. Similarly, the use of BSF threads were gradually replaced with UNF threads - but no specific changeover.
So there is no measure as to what constitutes "significant modifications". It is clear that Calvin is referring to the changre in suffix letter only, without regard to how significant these changes were.
Ok, thanks for the explanation!

Australian assembled series vehicles differed from those built O/seas because of the required local content rules,so checking Calven will only give British/Europe information, all vehicles built in Australia were done in Sydney by "Pressed Metal Corporation" with some bodies built built in Qld.
hope that is of help.
cheers
That’s an awesome post. What are you doing with the wagon ?

If you are referring to me....
Well I don't really know, only really interested in the shorty (so much fun to drive and understatedly/accidentally cool.....)
I've nicked a couple bits for the shorty so far, but we will see... Someone has expressed interest in having a look at it, but not strongly.
And if your are not referring to me...Well, can't help you there!
