    Brain fade

So I had a brain fade, or moment of weakness, or a sudden flash of sheer brilliance, not sure which but I bought a couple of old rusty Series 2 land rovers.

Not knowing much about them at all I have a couple questions that will seem ridiculous to almost everyone here. I haven't done too much investigating, but would like thoughts on a couple of pics, here they are:

    The questions are:
Is it normal to have that third gauge in the middle? What is the sideways lever in front of the gear knob(haven't looked underneath to see, can't get in there yet)

And did most 109s have padded lining/trim on the roof?

    Cheers
    James

    Welcome to the club

Not sure on the gauge. Mine doesn’t have it.
The leaver is for a hand throttle.
The padded lining I believe is std with the safari roof as are the roof vents

Sideways lever is a hand throttle to lock engine revs for PTO etc

    Welcome.

Small gauge looks like a combo water temp/oil pressure gauge.

Not original but a very useful addition. I've got the same one in mine.

    Thanks for the replies everyone,

One more question , what's the button for on top of where the ignition switch should be, they weren't a push start button setup were they?

Nah it's got the horn in the steering wheel, obviously nothing on the car works or I'd just push it and see what happens!

Anyway, I'm wondering if its for the windscreen washer, time will tell..

Are you going to combine two into one?

Yeah possibly,I wanted just one (swb) but the owner said both had to go, so I've nicked a couple bits so far, door catch, fuel pump etc...other than that will see what I do with the lwb
