Starter solenoid buzzing

Phil, what does that mean ? Are my connections from battery / to starter motor around the wrong way ? Or the start trigger / earth connections ? As I say no markings on either solenoid to indicate what terminals do.

Which brings me to my second point. Has your battery actually been tested, as a bad connection inside the battery itself would give you the same result.

Trying another known to be good battery may indicate that. In other words, your Starters & cables may be ok but the "bad connection" is inside the battery. It has to be something common.

I guess a load test by an Auto Sparky may prove or disprove this. At least you'll know.

As you may realise the starter Motor usually draws the highest Current when starting so it seems possible it is breaking down elsewhere.

There may be enough Volts to operate the Solenoid but not the load of the motor. See where i'm going with this?

I guess using some jumper cables to another vehicle should tell me more about the battery ?

I just realised the Ingram solenoid has a manual pusher on the solenoid plunger, so basically equivalent to shorting the battery to the starter motor with a large screw driver. This solenoid is going back in tomorrow, as that sounds like a handy backup.

I think the early original ones, maybe S1 had the starter button on the solenoids ????
Where did you get The Ingram solenoid ?
Handy to used, to start if you are bonnet side.

You could probably buy direct, I don't think they are trade only.

The Ingram unit was installed by an auto electrician in Melbourne when the Landy was being trucked from qld to Tas and wouldn't start after being taken off one truck.

It looks to be pretty heavy duty unit, maybe for trucks ?
