    Hello John,

Did the Series 1 and 2 have two holes for the clutch fork hole for either left or right hand drive?

The reason I ask is that I have a earlier Series which has had its nomenclature plates removed. I suspect it is a Series 2. It seems to have only the right-hand side access hole for the clutch fork.

    Kind regards
    Lionel

Some had both holes, some had only one, but I don't think that they were for any particular Series, but were made as a dual purpose bell housing from time to time when they were uncertain about the relative numbers of RHD and LHD that would be built. Similarly, there are a small number of chassis fitted for both left and right hand drive, the obvious difference being two holes for the relay.

I should point out that although Series 1 had the same hole for the clutch fork shaft as Series 2a, it has the same bolt pattern as the six cylinder 2a, as do early production Series 2a 88 models which had the Series 1 engine.

    Hello DgD69,

Thank you for your reply. It would be great if you could help me out Dgd69!

Apart from the description you have provided the important thing is to have the top-most bolt hole positioned at 12 o'clock.

From what John and others have said there were different versions of the 2A bellhousing and the location of the top bolt changed to different positions of the clock.

In the photograph the broken off top bolt lug is located at 12 O'Clock. I would like to be able to replace my broken bellhousing bolt lug with a bellhousing that matches the position of the top bolt at 12 O'Clock that is not broken

    Kind regards
    Lionel
