I'd do it in situ.
Shouldn't be a big job whereas removing the steering box is more time consuming.
Remove the mud shields, remove the arm from the steering box mainshaft ( modify a cheap drop arm puller), remove the cover plate from the steering box and withdraw the shaft.
Use an O-ring pick tool to remove the old O- ring, fit the new one and re-assemble.
