    Ramps will slide out on concrete weather it is painted or not , trust me I know. When I had my Mini I was backing it up ramps , when I was almost at the top one of them slid on unpainted floor & I ended up going past the stop on the other with the ramp under the floor & wheel dangling in mid air. Lucky the back of a Mini is light & we could lift it off. After I always put rubber sheet under the ramps.

    Perhaps worth pointing out that ramps are very unlikely to slip if the wheel climbing them is driving - and this being a Landrover forum, all wheels normally can be driving.

    Well work on Pippa is slowly progressing. Removed suspension etc. on the weekend. This is photo is obviously after a clean-up, as before hand it looked like a bomb had gone off :-)

    Most bolts came out ok but a few parts had to be hit with the angle grinder.

    Started on suspension bushings last night and after a bit of persuasion got the first one out. Ended up taking the centre piece out, punching and deforming one end so an appropriate sized socket had somewhere to sit, and then pressing out. Hopefully the others will be as easy.

    The steering relay is going to be a different case altogether. First found the bolt holding the lower arm on was quite bent, then found someone in the past had actually welded the arm to the relay. Ended up cutting it off and found why it had been welded on. The shaft splines were half gone. Anyway planning on flipping chassis over and soaking it with penetrating fluid for a while before attempting to remove it. Did try the jack method but nothing budged.

    Now for my first of many questions........ What is every ones opinion on chassis repair sections. Is it cheaper to order these from the UK and pay shipping or get them locally? Also, where does everyone recommend sourcing them from?

    You have set a cracking pace for the restoration! The only thing I've done so far in the similar time period is wirebrush the engine and chassis number and list the missing bits and order a few things.

    I'm yet to finish cleaning the shed so I can move the Landie out of the carport!

    Hi Gyrotechnics.

    Trust me pulling it apart is the easy and maybe even the fun bit. I know work on Pippa will now slow to a crawl.
    I am also fighting space issues. I am thinking once I have a rolling chassis again (maybe by Christmas ) it may get parked outside with a cover so that I have space to work in the garage.

    Well it has been over a month since my last post so I thought I would give you an update on where I am at.

    Finally managed to remove the steering relay with a lot of penetrating fluid, a lump hammer and an SDS chisel. It still took a few days and apart from a tear in the liner all went well. Not so well for the steering relay though

    Plan was to repair chassis and suspension components at the same time but lack of space soon put a stop to those plans so now focusing solely on the chassis. Once I have it painted I will then move it outside and undercover to free up some space.

    Have bought a mig welder and have been doing a lot of playing with it but haven't started on the chassis yet. Also, had a bit of a side project cleaning up a welding table that I found on marketplace. Vice is nowhere as good as yours Cadas but it will serve the purpose.

    Lastly, purchased a couple of dolly's for $12 each which make moving the chassis around a breeze.
