Do you bother with the solid rivets when re-assembling? I see on the replacement ones for sale all seem to be Pop Rivetted.
Also what's the deal with the Philips head screws? The drivers door is identical, (mirrored of course!)

I did do solid rivets as I happened to have some.
The screws are essential, they help you contain the spring and slider while you rivet it together. Once you line everything up and hold it together, you need another set of hands to do the fixing.
The screws can be fitted one handed

I had a look at an early door latch and it only used rivets, not sure if this changed later in production. Screws in yours might be a later addition although I'm not sure why only those two would have been replaced.Quote:

Your Windscreen Wipers certainly appear to be late S2A with a separate Motor/cable driven tucked into the Pass. "Glove box"
I found it was surprising where to store everything when it is taken off.[bigrolf][bighmmm] Some days I looked in the Wanted to Sell for a SH Aircraft Hangar [bigrolf] & when you strip two it is even worse. Eventually I only ever restored the SWB & scrapped most of the rest of of the 109" & used some parts on the shorty, so it never really became a problem.

The apron panel is not there at all. The winch is mounted to a pretty heavy plate. (Unless of course the apron is a heavy plate. To be honest I don't think I've ever seen one!)Quote:

Wipers are individual motors directly driving the arms. (No Idea where they came from.)
I am a bit worried this thing is a bit like a bag of Roof Insulation. Once i unwrap it will expand to fill the Roof Space instantly.
I got a bit of the history from dad the other day. Apparently it was the Chief Engineers vehicle from Pioneer Sugar Mill in Brandon, QLD. The Mill had several of them and an inhouse mechanic. So I'd say they would have done "whatever" to keep them going in the day. Actually the well used Workshop Manual I have is stamped "Pioneer Mill".

Part of the fun of owning such a circa 61 year olde treasure & boy, what a great learning curve?. As you have discovered already there is a lot of advice etc on here so don't sweat or have sleepless nights over it..
