Advice needed. Fitting an electric fan to a 2A 4cyl 2.25L petrol engine

    Hi All
I’m contemplating replacing the standard engine fan with an electric fan, thermostat controlled. Is there anyone who has done this conversion?

    Thx

    Doug

Yeah I've done this to my series 3 Lightweight.
I used a Kenlowe thermostat controller (has a copper bulb that sits in the top radiator hose) but can't remember what the fan is.
It could possibly be the original Kenlowe that came with the kit, but I have vague memories of that going kapput and buying a generic 12" diameter 12V fan at an auto jumble.
The controller can be a bit fiddly to set up as the bulb needs to be in the coolant flow and not touching the hose/radiator pipe. The tolerance on the fan kick-in point is also a bit broad, sometimes it comes on too early and other times the gauge is too close to the red for my liking before it turns on.
It's been on the car for 20+ years and works ok in deepest, coldest Victoria (and even on a near 40C day, once the fan kicks in, it cools really well) but if I was anywhere warmer or didn't already have it fitted, I probably wouldn't bother.
