    Slowly coming together

Managed to get the grill and lights completed after fitting mudguards back on. I have to repair door tops and repair/replace the seating and seat belts then hopefully I will get it registered. I installed sound proofing under the bonnet and plan on doing the complete interior also before I fit trim. Planning on trying marine carpet so I can wash it when necessary. Everything else will remain original or as close to it as possible.

Good looking truck mate, looks the part! Interested to know where the grille came from. Here in NZ we seemed to get 'standard' UK style grilles (galv wire type then plastic later for S3). Is yours an Oz 'standard' ? it doesn't look quite Land Rover but maybe it's the photo.

I put black/grey fleck marine carpet linings inside my doors and on the tub interior guards (SWB S3 Oz built was hard, now soft top.).
Looks good and the doors are not so tinny sounding

First time round I used ADOS spray cos it seemed easier. A year down the track, some sections are peeling off!
The marine carpet inner surface is quite fibrous/absorbent. So either use loads of spray/soaking with aerosol or liberally use brush on liquid ADOS.
Also recommend light scuff of paint panels (eg Scotch Pad) before applying glue.

I was looking at the grille as well, but then saw the m/cyls and thought it must be a IIa WideLight and not a 3?

It looks great, whatever it is.

When I purchased the truck the front panel was badly rusted but the grill section was on it so I guess it is original it had been used for cooking on as it had a burnt circle in the middle. I sourced the panel from a local member it was from a Series 3 so that may be why it looks different. I appreciate the comments and thanks again.

That grille was fitted to some late Australian built 2as. Presumably part of increasing Australian content.

Goes to show there's nothing "standard" at all with Series trucks found in the colonies
I do like the wire 'almost Series III' style grille.

Problem with it was that it was chrome plated, not galvanised, giving it quite a short life, especially near the coast.

They came that way from the factory - cheaper than galvanising.
