I ran the serial number in CALVIN and it came up as a 67 SIIa 6cyl. (Previous owner told me it was a 65). Does that sound right?
This is the best shot I have at the moment.

thanks Di,
it shows as:
34703819D
347 Model: Land Rover, Series IIA
Body type: Basic
Wheel base: 109in
Engine: 6-cylinder
Model years: 1966-1971
Destination: Completely knocked down (CKD), right-hand drive (RHD)
03819 Serial number
D Design: Three significant design modifications
Suffix used from April 1967 till March 1968
I guess that makes it an 67/8 6cyl.
G'day Sleepy :)
Yes, your 6 cylinder 2a would be a 1967 model, as those vehicles would have been assembled in Australia at PMC corp at Enfield in Sydney, and as the 6 cylnder was more expensive, heavier on fuel, and not a lot more powerful, they sat on the showroom floors for quite some time, as you could buy a Toyota Landcruiser, or Nissan Patrol both of which had more useable power and better road speed for less money, and with vastly better after-sales service. so there were 6 cylinder vehicles sitting in showrooms for up to and sometimes over 12 months :( most of them being sold to Govt Depts at a large discount.
cheers

Hi,
I drive a 1964 Series IIa SWB, named "Stumpy". It's completely original including mechanicals etc. and I use it as everyday transport. It's totally rust free and just has a few dings here and there. I must say I prefer driving it to my other car which is a Ford Territory
