    G'day Grill

    Is that 88" (B 126 DM) a station wagon with 7 seats? and is it a 6 cylinder 2a as the grille indicates the second set of bumpers (over-riders) would suggest it is to British MOD specifications.

    yes the B 126 Dm is a station wagon, but its only a 5 seat..we change the back seat become only two wide long seat , one in the left and one in the right..
    But to be honest long time ago (before my dad got it) its an soft top..because back in the old times series landy era (50's - 70's), mostly the landy that imported to indonesia is a soft top model...if we want a hardtop or a station wagon we should order the body parts to the dealer..the only hardtop or a station wagon models imported that era are the special use like the government project, post office (according to the info, some of the station wagon for the indonesian post office is donated from australia, some of them are 6 cyl), and other non civilian/private use...
    luckylly my dad finally got an original hardtop for B 126 DM that time...
    the engine is a standard 4 cyl...we love the 6cyl australian grill and we got it from a friend and installed it..
    and yes the front bumper belongs to the UK military style...
    we have a so much combination of parts here..hehehe..my dad loves the UK military front bumper style, and i do like the australian grill...thats why we combine it...it looks awesome...kind a mix and match style here...the original series II grill with a brace (i guess its a UK military),kept for a spare,...
    my other landy (B 126 FG) is also a soft top back that time...and we finally got the original hardtop from a friend (again..) and fitted it...the engine is also 4 cyl, but we use the series IIa 6 cyl grill too...

    its pretty much mix and match style here in indonesia...
    that sometimes make me conffused too...
    once, i shocked..seeing someone's defender (2000) having a series II steel dashboard (note: the defender is an original defender not a leaf spung modified model)..
    in other times i saw a series III body with a defender 90 chassis, engine and suspesion...

    I just got one today

    I don't know whether it is a II or IIa or even how old it is yet as I haven't had a chance to run the numbers. It has got the early tybe CB brake cylinder though and the starter is by a button and not the key. The gear lever has a very contorted shape to it. Nothing like my series III had. Any way heres a couple of pics.





    Oh, it's a petrol, original motor by the looks of it.

    And my trailer was made from a 1968 SIIa LWB

    That would make it one of the very rare Formula 1 Landys.

    The direct operation starter button was used on all petrol Landrovers up to Series 2a suffix 'C' in 1967. Only almost twenty years, including some of the highest sales rates in Series history, so hardly rare, although with the newest over forty, quite a few are "retired", if not dead.

    I just ran the chassis number through CALVIN and it comes back as being between March '63 and April '66. How can I find out for certain?

    That should make it a '63?

    24305246b is the chassis number.

    Here is my 2a SWB.

    Managed to pick her up from the scrappies after an unsuccessfull attempt by the previous owner to sell her.


    Had been unregistered for over 10 years, and only used on a farm to tow horse floats around the paddocks.

    When I found her, she was on "Death Row" with only 48 hours left before the mobile crusher came and made coke cans out of her.

    Was last registered as a 1961 model, although she was commissioned to the Army in 1963.

    After a quick scrub up she looked like this, however has since been dismantled for a freshen up, and is now starting the long process of painting and re-assembly.


    As delivered:




    After a quick wash, now has the 'Nam look. (no doors or tailgate)
