congrats mate :D
go to your local repco or supercheap auto to get the dizzy cap. They may not have it in stock (repco might... but supercheap wont) but both will be able to order in. Repco should be able to have it to you withing 2 days - Supercheap within the week. Alternativly give the blokes at MR automotive a call and they will send one to you straight away :) (my reccomendation PH: 3284 6688)
No point go 2nd hand, they are only like $30 new... while you are at it I would replace the points, condensor and rotor button. All these parts are cheap and well worth buying new if you want a relyable engine.

I have joined the series II club.
And I thought you were going to say
"If your hinges stand proud, then you're one of our crowd!"

Thats awesome
I'm hoping to buy a II or IIA before the years out and get it ready for camping and 4x4 when i come to brissy next year.
Good luck with the roadworthy, took Tom Dad and I a long slog to do the same with ours.
Cheers

Sure are, hey james bro how you been? Roadworthy is looking to be a fair way away at this point.
I have been working on my disco all week to try and get it running, ive decided it hates me for some reason, as the gearbox stuffed itself today, oh joy. So now i have to change that, but will be straight onto the series after that!

yeah not too bad hey, i'm taking dad's ex army IIA out to the mitchell this weekend, for a bit of 4x4, should be great.
and your not wrong i guess, it'll take you a fair while to roadworthy the sucker, but it'll be well worth it.
What's the deal with the disco?

Ok guys, this thread has been dead for a while but i have just started my annual holidays and its time to start on this old girl, plan at the moment is to get it running then fix things from there, hoping to get it road worthy, and i have decided to keep it mostly original.
I got some numbers off the car last night and was just wondering if anyone could tell me what year it would be, because i couldnt find it anywhere!
Vehicle # 24302925a
Body # LRS6229
Serial # 886229
I know that its definitely a 2a but just wanted to know the year...
I have some pictures of it that i'll put up soon, just need to work out my camera card thing...

Hey Shamo,
Yours is 290 units younger than mine :-)
Pretty sure I worked mine out to be a 1963 model but can't remember how I ascertained it wasn't a 1962 build date.
