I think I can see your problem there Ian!
It did well to get you home.
Sounds like a fun weekend coming up.
Well after much procrastination, I finally started pulling the front of Ralph apart to change the gearbox. The water pump (pictured) was completely Ted's Brother. Ordering a new one this morning. I was not looking forward to this but once I started, I really got into it again, sad ain't it. I managed to get everything disconnected from the engine last night, I will get the floor out tonight, disconnect the clutch slave cylinder, handbrake, speedo cable and rear drive shaft. Whilst I am at it, the brake booster needs to come out for a rebuild (bypassed at the moment) and the cabin fan is seized as well, so that has to come out. I am also going to replace the front springs while I'm at it as Ralph has quite a sag on the driver's side, (That's my story and I'm sticking to it). I should be able to lift the lot out on Saturday, pull the motor and gearbox apart and get a new clutch plate and pressure plate to go in after I get the flywheel machined by the guy who checked out the reco gearbox for me. Looks like I have a busy weekend ahead of me.
Cheers Ian

Nope, no go. Couldnt get the handbrake drum to drop low enough because of the crossbrace, had to split them and pull the engine out separately, now for the box.

Well I got it all out, I finally got the water pump Sunday (they kept sending the wrong one). The flywheel, pressure plate and clutch plate have been sent to NPC Performance Clutches in Brisvegas and the dodgy brake booster is at the brake place next to work here at Southport. I'll re-fit the gearbox next Saturday, fit the water pump and the new parabolic springs. At the moment I don't think I will have the clutch kit back (unless they have a quick turnaround time in Brissie) in time for next weekend, so that might have to wait for a couple of weeks as we are off to Rover Park with the GCLRO club the following weekend for a bit of fun and 4wding. It's a bit of Deja Vu in the 2nd photo from about 12 months ago when I had Ralph in bits. Also attached are a couple of photo's of inside the new gearbox with the top cover removed, Looks and feels very good and tight.
Cheers Ian

The Parabolic springs turned up yesterday so I couldn't help myself last night and fitted up the drivers side, I know I know, I didnt take a photo, it was too dark so i'll take one tonight. Ralph is sitting better already. I'll do SWMBO's side tonight. I also refitted the rebuilt brake booster and plumbed it in. I was surprised I even found the brake line I took out to bypass it. Picking up the new (re-cond) gearbox in the morning to fit Saturday. Looking forward to taking Ralph for a spin when I get him back together. One question, when I pulled the old box out one of the reverse flicky over contraption springs on the top of the box committed suicide and snapped, If I still have one original spring on it, any spring of the same length should work OK shouldn't it as I haven't found a genuine replacement yet and the new box dosen't have that reverse latch mech on it.
