if you really need a spring, I have a spare set from my original gearstick, which you can borrow , if you need it quickly, I think my new gearstick may be missing one, as it is really easy to find reverse if I aint carefull
Thanks Tim/ Harry. I'll double check the new box when i pick it up tomorrow. I didnt think of FWD as last 2 times i called they told me they got rid of all their series stuff to a scrap metal guy (unbelievable what power bean counters can wield). Just got the passenger parabolic in and he sits pretty well .

Harry, all good on the spring, they are on the new box but it Looks like the bell housings have different spacings between the holes to line up to the back of the engine. The reco box is a suffix B and the original is suffix D. Was there any difference that anyone knows about?.

Hi John. From what i know, Ralph was originally a six cylinder according to qld transport records but it looks like i have a 4 cylinder bell as there is a 10mm diff in diameter. Will have to swap them over. The 4 cylinder i had in Smeg (series3) was a lot smaller in diameter though.
The general consensus is that the later the suffix the better the gearbox as they made changes through the years that fixed reliability issues but the Series 2a suffix B had one really good thing about it. Just for that suffix, in the transfer case, they changed from a small intermediate shaft to a larger one but kept the old low range gearing which I think was 2.9 as against 2.35 in all the later transfer cases. Well worth keeping that even if the gearbox doesn't work out :). But it's not really hard to change the bell housing over.
Harry, if it is not locking out of reverse properly and both springs are there they may just need to be adjusted to make it work properly.
Cheers,
TimJ.
what clutch slave cylinder set up do you have with the td 27? iam doing the conversion now but iam a bit stuck on the linkages any help would be good..cheers!
