I agree, I don't want to change my gearbox, but now I have a 😘 "Good" spare, which doesn't leak!

Hi Ian,
I believe the reason for jumping out of gear is worn synchros. The springs can help but are not the cause. It's more usual for it to jump out of third though.
Is general wear... When I worked for zenith engineering they used a die grinder on at least one gear to get around it
Yep, it looked very good, but we didn't get far into it when we played with it,....
Well i refitted the floor yesterday morning and went for a run down to clunes, for a family get together, its a lot better but still does pop out occasionally. Think i will just have to put up with it for a while, i reckon it would be better if i fit an over driveto take some of the backlash out with lower revs. Now to find one.

Unfortunately rebuilt could men just that. Taken apart an put back together.
It doesn't mean it's been rebuilt to original specifications. As for an overdrive , I would never pay good money for a secondhand one unless it's dismantled so I can inspect all the bits. .W.
Did you have a good look at the selector shaft where the detent balls sit. If they're rounded, and not a clean hole, that would cause it to jump out of gear.
Just having a look at this thread. Apologies if this has all been suggested earlier..... Yep, the usual things like detente balls, springs and synchros could be to blame Also possibly worn gears, spacers... all sorts of things!
John
Just had to pull the front driveshaft out, the injector pump is leaking and dribbling diesel onto the yoke boot and destroyed. So its 2wd for now until i get some time to overhaul the pump and replace the yoke boot. I seem to have a bad vibration below the hi-lo stick since I put it back together that comes and goes, i'll have to pull the floor out again and have a man's look 😎
