    Series 3 time machine!

Just like the Delorean from Back to the Future, when my series 3 hits a certain speed (not 88mph as they don't go that fast) usually around 80kph, the odometer doesn't seem to run, neither does the trip meter. However the speedo needle still does. As soon as I slow down, the odo and the trip function again, mostly in lower gears too. So in a 40km or so trip, my car has only covered 6km on the odometer and the trip meter. Weird. Good way to keep the ks low I suppose.

Any thoughts from the combined brains trust at AULRO? Flux capacitor maybe?

If the speedo works all the time its not the cable so you may need to take the speedo to an instrument repairer or get another speedo they arnt to expensive and theres plenty around replacing it is the easyist takes about 10 min

The gear train driving the odometers in the speedo is damaged, probably gummed up. It is possible that simply cleaning it may work, but it sounds asnif there is a damged gear which will need replacing. Not a big job to pull it apart and have a look.

Thanks. I need to have it out to fix the little coloured light covers for the oil pressure, hi beam and cold start lights as they have all fallen off. Probably not easy to come by but may be able to find a compatible alternative. My Landy was left sitting for 20-something years so a lot of things are great but some of the little things like this are starting to surface. It will be an awesome truck soon, one step at a time.

Any chance someone has an old speedo lying around they don't want? Just in case?
