Hi Steve yeah i will be using a LC 60series seering box ..I have it now & marked it all up over the weekend so if the weather stays good ill get out there & get it all done ..Not to sure if i will use a range rover seering column this time just depends on what i can get me hands on but using the RR column was easy the last one was out of an 82 model from memery.I'll post up pics of it all the way through if anyone wants me to.moving the battery tray this time will be easy as its a tabletop..i could of left the original in the green one but raised it to clear the new shaft.

I am also thinking of putting some kits together if i can get the boxes but the cost of the xray on the steering shaft after its welded is $300 thats for a travers hardness & xray..& there would still be some welding required but i would supply everything ..

Well went & done some to Harry today..Would of got most of it done if my electric drill did'nt start to smoke heaps then catch on fire..
I already had it marked out where the plates where to go & how much needed cutting..

    Where it was marked.

You can see where i cut the front spring hanger to allow for the plates to be welded..

    First of the pilot holes

Taking the relay out that was a mission as it was welded in for some reason.

The holes a little bit larger they need to be 22mm when finished ..

    Cutting the relay out..

    Holes to 16mm

This is where me drill died i got one drilled to 22mm But had to finish the other side by hand with a file , so will get new drill to finish last 3 off with..

Well if i'm lucky i'll be back at it tomorrow & get atleast the plates welded on that way i only need to form the knotch in the front Xmember round the bolts ..

Well finaly got out there & did some to Harry today.. I drilled out all holes for the crush tubes & my NEW drill is now making a funny noise they just dont make them like they used to..

I then welded the crush tubes in . .

Then cleaned the welds up & allso the tubes with a file to get the dags out of them..

I them welded the outside of the chassis plate..

Then welded the inside chassis plate..

I didnt drill the back plate just yet as its right up against the front of the front Xmember so will drill threw tomorrow..
Just need to get some 2mm sheet to box the cut out section & its done i will post up pics of it as i go still...

Still have to cut gearbox Xmember so it can be bolted in that way i dont have to pull the seats & seat box (bass) out with the floor if i ever have to pull the gearbox out wen its all finished..

Hi Lakey i always use rustgaurd EPOXY can get it from bunnings..
I brush it on so i can get a good think coat on it but it does take a liitle while to dry..It will dry overnight but it take a couple of days to fully harden..
