Nice work Banjo, very detailed pictures. :)
What further work do you expect to do on the head?
Love the shot of a handful of sparkplugs, reminded me of a posie of flowers. :p ....ok it was just a thought.
Lucky the carbon tax hasn't started yet, you'd be up for a few bucks. :lol2:
I reckon YELLOW would be the go!!!:D
Just basicly clean it all up make sure theres no movement in the valves side to side. Run a heavy duty wire wheel through the ports to clean em up.Use a brass wire wheel on the face of the head & i'll clean up the valves on the big bench grinder using a brass wheel on it..Then i'll regrind the valves which is borring & tediouse ..Then i'll give it a coat of paint & chuck in on & button it up..
Are you going to redo the valve seats for ULP or leave them as they are? Methinks it would be a good time to do them while it is out. Although with no cross member under the engine in a landy, at least you can do most stuff with the motor still in place. I've often thought about what benefits could be gained with one of the larger sumps as there is room to fit it under there. A bit more oil in reserve for when you are off road. Or just plenty more to leak onto garage floors, carparks, etc!
I would like to do the valves for ULP but the cost is way to dear at $600 to $700 the quoted me & i can justify that cost so they will stay the same for now..
As for the larger sump that is the best way to go as oil isnt just for lubrication it does help cool the engine to some degree i have seen some where people have cut the bottom off the lump of 2 sumps & joined them to make it larger but these days you can buy them done & they have the extended oil pickup.
Well got sweet bugga all done today..Started to clean the pistons up & took the old rings off..Got the gasket paper cardboard for oil so made the gasket i needed & put the back off the transfer case back together & put the new mounts on..
Don't it look spiffy..
