looks like an old school fusible link. Saves the wiper motor burning out if you get a short or power spike. Never seen it myself. I could be wrong though.
The electronic distributor is a good idea. Do you know if the company does a version for the original 2.6L landy motor?

Have you got a close up pic of the black things in that wiper accessory?
Edit: Nevermind. It looks like it is a choke (for noise suppression) 7Amp 21 microHenrys. Possibly used to suppress wiper motor noise in a radio.

I'm keen to know how the distributor works out for you. I've been thinking about one for myself. Do you know if you run it with the standard coil and leads or do you also need to upgrade these for optimal running?
