Hi banjo, It's looking great, I've been watching the progress and fairdinkum you're doing a great job. I've still got the military springs both font and rear if you want 'em, but I only have the front Military Prop shaft, you're welcome to it. I think the Mil prop shafts are longer than the civi ones but a question on the REMLR forum would soon give you an answer.
i've done a little searching about on the question of propshaft lengths, there is a vague possibility that your front axle may not be original to the motor (but it may and i'm not being much help) i think there was three different axles fitted to the military/1ton chassis..
Salisbury
Rover
ENV
all these have different nose lengths, so it would also give different propshaft lengths ...
i still haven't found out for sure if there is a difference between standard chassis props and mili/1ton props

what has changed?
A silly question - but the small 'detachable' ends on each shaft - they are not different lengths, are they, and you may have swapped them over during re-assembly?
Are those new springs?
Are they the same as the old ones - length wise?
Is the centre where you attach the diff dead centre or slightly towards the front or back? If the centre isn't exactly centre then it is possible you have the springs on 'backwards'.
In any event, the rear shaft shouldn't be 'grating' against the shaft tunnel in the cross member.
I have a 109" Series 2a here with 1ton springs on. Tomorrow after work and before dark I can run a tape measure between the transfercase coupling and the diffs - front and back - to give you some sort of measurement.

Na na not mixed up all parts for each shaft went into its own box so i didnt mix them up,,But they are the same size so wouldnt matter but i like to put thing back the way they came off so had them in seperate boxes..Quote:

The shackles that where on it wen i got it where..2 were cut down military ones the other 2 were just lumps of thick plate drilled & chucked on..
I would have to check out the old pics i took when pulling it down to remember what holes the suspension was in.I know they where odd like front in bottom holes & rears in top holes or vise versa..

I have kept the original rear springs.I only brought the new springs all round cause it was cheaper then reseting them.the front ones where knackered so need new ones but the rears could be reset its just cheaper to get the new..

Also the front diff is just a rover one..BUT i did get a military one with it so use that casing wen putting it back together.it has the stregther welded to the front passenger side but the center is the same as wen i got it i just rebuilt the swivels before i put them on..
The only other idea which apeals to me is some oily rags & a match..
Rear diff is a Salisbury, right?
I also have a 2a here with rover diff on the front and Salisbury on the rear - I will measure them, too.
The transfercase will be in the same place - same mounts and same chassis mount point - so the only difference between my two will be the rear tailshaft because of the Salisbury on one and Rover on the other.
I'll post the measurements tomorrow.
