Then i started on the bottom half of the rear panel.

I cut these a few days ago so they are the same length as rest of it..

All the spot welds are broken here on this side..Passenger side..

also cut the door rubber bits aswell on both sides.

Then took it out & washed in car wash as its still got half of Scones dirt in it & stuck on it.Then left in the sun for the rest of the arvo to dry ready for me to start some of the repairs tomorrow morning.

I am going to have to do that with the station wagon front doors (I have the proper [original] rubbers for the back doors already).

I cut the drivers side with a hacksaw as i was just filling in time. But the rest i cut with a grinder with one of those real thin discs , There only about 1mm thick.
There great but you do have to be carefull cause if you twist it while using they have a habit of exploding or if you hit something a little hard with it it does the same thing..

But using the fender door rubbers is so much easier then the originals, Although you do have to cut the fender door rubber on the inside so it goes around the windscreen bolt. The inside bolt that holds down the windscreen..The door rubber also have metal in them so have to take care & dab a bit of epoxy black paint on them after cutting.
I also use the original bottom door rubber..

Thanks. I bought some door rubber (6.2 metres) from 4wd in Melbourne for the front doors. It is quite different to the rubber I bought for the Hard Top from Clarks Rubber. The Clarks Rubber door seals I have to glue on. It looks like the rubber from Melbourne just gets tapped on.

I have original rubber for the rear door on the Station Wagon, too. It is the sort with a band of metal in it and you rivet it on. I have imported 100 solid rivets and am now waiting for my 'rivet gun' to arrive.

With the Defender rubber, do you run it up to a corner and cut it and start a new run (like across the top of the door) or do you put it in as one piece and just bend it around the corners?

Na i use original defender door rubber They are the right shape & you dont need to join them anywhere..
They have the rubber on the outside & a U shap bit on the back the pushes onto the pinch weld as such..
I ran out & took some pics with me fone of the green one fitted with fender rubbers..They just push on after you make the cut for the windscreen & there quiet hard to pull back off so i'm guessing the steal in it which is like ribs running the whole length of them , Must have teeth that grab the metal door rubber bit you push it onto..

This is a corner they are moulded so go right round the whole door from bottom right round to the other bottom..

Using fender door rubbers is so much easier ..

Well started all the repairs on the rear bottom panel today.

I used rivets & SIKAFLEX as recomended by use as i have never used it before..
Anyway i started on the bottom seem..

Then i did the broken spotwelds on the sides..

Then i did the bottom corners where the drivers side was worst.

I used rivets on the bottom.

Then i used this as everyone says this SIKAFLEX is the best & sets like steel.I didnt want anymore rivets on the side panels so glued this in for surport..

As soon as i was finished you could see & feel the differance it was all solid again..& if this stuff is as good as people say when it sets hard it should be great..

Started sanding the side panel before i came in & its gettin there..

Just want them all sanded so i can put some etch primer on all the panels & then the final rub down & top coat so i can put them back on the car & out of my bloody way..

I bought a couple of those stands from SuperCheap yesterday - thanks for the heads-up - very handy and the right price.

Yeah there fantastic & save the back. & there adjustable..I going to get some more on pay day..:D
