I really must aplogise for not meeting Harry Highback before - very remiss of me!

On the chassis - the 1 ton chassis was optional out here. You can tell it's not an Aussie military chassis because of the standard front bumper brackets and the lack of the rear helicopter lift points.

I notice that it has the front suspension in the bottom position and the rear suspension in the upper. That's unusual! Which positions are the shackles located?

It seems to have a non Land Rover radiator - is it wider than the OEM Landy one?

On camino gold - I always wanted a white SIII but it wasn't an option until the stage 1. I still like white Landies!

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Looking closely at the pics of the dumb irons and spring hangers I am 100% certain they are a home made addition to a civvie chassis. Not that they don't seem well done, but the shape of the plates and the welding are different to the genuine article, etc...

The one-ton chassis apparently is another inch or 3 deeper in the centre of the main rails.

I saw the later piccys, It's cleaned up well!

Also spied the spring shackles, they are not the originals, either home made or after market. I'd be getting the OEM Mil ones because I understand that the spacer when on the raised position is important for stability of the arrangement. The spacer hole is also the correct height to match the standard height suspension.

    You're going well.

Is the suffix D thing true of the SIII boxes? I know the SIIa Suffix D and later were the strongest in that series?

On SIII suffix D it's something I don't know about, although I'm aware the lattice work in the casting over the reverse idler is important to have on an SIII.

    Ben

    You could be correct.

Gary has one of the civvy SIII 1 ton chassis options out at the chook shed, I'll do some measuring and image capturing of it against one of his standard civvy 109's and a SIII military when I'm out there tomorrow!

I have no idea as to why the suspension is in differant holes from front to back...

Crap i thought i had a military chassis finaly...

it all looks factory even the steering damper chassis bracket , Has the holes on the drivers side for left hand drive...

I have no idea but i guess i'll just keep on going with it .....

Did you happen to note what size the bolt heads were tucked away inside the hanger at the rear of the tank? I'm pulling one out next weekend, and those bolts look a bit of a challenge.
