    AccuSpark Australian Supplier

Hello Jimmy and other 2.6 Litre Owners,

There is at least one AccuSpark Australian based supplier Land Rover Series 2 3 6 Cylinder Electronic Ignition Conversion FOR Lucas 25D6 | eBay

There are also other brands such as Powerspark and Autospark.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

    Thanks Lionel,

I have been talking to Cheryl from Rob Roy Classic who are the Australian distributor you mentioned on ebay. She is looking into which unit will fit based on the ignition points model i have given her. Failing that, i can take the dizzy out and go and see them to work it out. I like this approach as it still will look original to the casual observer.
    Thanks

    tim

    Hello Tim,

How is it working out with Rob Roy Classic and the electronic distributor system? From my communications with AccuSpark in the UK it seems that their system is Lucas based and not Bosch based.

I have a number of ex-Army Series 3 Land Rovers and they are all fitted with Bosch components. As I also have a 202 Holden powered Series 3 ute which also runs a Bosch sparks system I cannot see the point (no pun intended) of getting a Lucas based system. Apparently, the Australian Army had good reasons for specifying Bosch components.

I think I will be investigating Hotspark, PowerSpark, Autospark .... to see if they are Bosch friendly

Oh Jimmy 86 my apologies for the thread hijack

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

    For Bosch Systems

    Hello 2.6 Litre People,

It looks like Power Spark and Hot Spark are a couple of electronic distributor systems designed specifically for Bosch products. I am now trying to find out which exact models of Power Spark or Hot Spark are the best for the 2.6.

    The quest continues ...

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

    Hi guys,

I have struck out with the Accuspark, like you say they are set up for the lucas distributor, however they were very helpful. I really need to take out my distributor and get the bosch model number - this will make the searching a bit easier.
    The search continues...

    Tim

    G'day Tim

I have been communicating with David after noticing he sells re-manufactured and electronic converted distributors made by Bosch for early Holden engines. I wrote to David to ask if he will convert my Bosch distributor for the 2.6 litre motor. I sent the product codes off the side of the distributor and the work can be done. I can also have the distributor re-manufactured so the new electronic system will not be working on a tired base - 1978 or even 1980 was quite some time ago now!

Here is the link for the early Holden distributor conversion from there you can get the store contact details or "ask a question" David is very friendly and also very helpful Looking at the shop David also re-manufactures such things as the crab distributors for 1932 Ford V8 Flat Head engines, plus different distributors for other vintage and modern engines, so he must know his stuff!

David sounds like the go, I will also contact him. I got my model number last night off the distributor housing. I also have the numbers from the army RPS which says it is a Bosch GB599 distributor.

    Bosch Numbers

    Hello Tim,

My Bosch distributor from my December 1980 ex-Army Land Rover FFR has the following codes on it:

    9 230 061 651
    U - JFU 6 →
    HYG 1231

051- this number is written vertically off to the side of the other numbers

I have not yet looked at my 1978 ex-Army FFR - Fitted For Radio to identify its codes.

What are the code numbers on your Bosch distributor?

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

    Hi Lionel,

Those are the codes on the side of my Bosch as well. The RPS states that it is a non-detox distributor (although a lot of the parts are the same). Sorry for the late reply, my Aulro is setup for my work email address, which i cant access at home.
I will track down a conversion kit and let you know the details.
    Thanks

    Tim

    G'day Tim,

Thank you for confirming that our vehicles have the same Bosch system.

After I get the clutch, brakes and no doubt other systems sorted out I will be getting my distributor rebuilt and converted by Dave. The bloke who does the Holden Bosch conversions in the eBay link that I sent you earlier.

By the way Tim what month & year is your ex-Army soft top?

Again Jim, my apologies for the hijack of your thread

    Kind Regards
    Lionel
