Painting a Series 3 109 GS chassis

I did buy some Penetrol on the weekend and will certainly give it a go.

I wonder if there is any benefit from using a rust coverter and then sealing with penetrol.

I have recently being looking at the KBS range which seems like an economic POR 15 alternative.

Sooner or later I will have to make a decision!

G'day,
I was thinking of painting my chassis in the same manner and just hand brushing Chassis Black on or somethinge similar, after painting on either some rust converter, killrust or penetrol first.

Could you please let us know how you go and what sort of paint you decide to use. I've only got a little bit of surface rust on mine, but I thought I should do some preventative maintenance before I get it back on the road.

The best way to find out, is to do some test pieces outside with a control, to see what happens.

My opinion is that little benefit would be gained but an extra cost would be imposed,

I just put some Penetrol on one of the drums I had sanded back. Looks great and spread very easily.
