What pipes required for S3 Heater...?

Hi all, be gentle first post...

Have just bought this wee truck:

Land Rover Series 3 SWB 1978 | Trade Me

It has the Heater core but the switch on the dash is missing as are "all the heater pipes" I'm told. So I know what to get what are the heater pipes I need...?

    Thanks Team
    Bob

Hi Bob, welcome to the forum. That looks like a sweet ride - and in great condition too. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to answer your question on the heater - I'm not 100% sure, but mine is disconnected as well, but will be sorted eventually, but I haven't started the resto on it yet.

    Cheers - Gav.

One heater hose from front of engine along top of rocker cover to rear through a bracket and then turns to off side to the on/off tap.
One right angle hose (very short) from heater on/off tap to heater core inlet.
One hose from rear of engine to heater core outlet.
You could probably dispense with the tap. My experience so far (in cold weather) is that leaving the fan off results in very little heat coming in to the cabin, as there is no forced air through the inlet because it's on the side of the vehicle. This simplifies the hose set up because you don't need the tap or the little right-angle hose. You just take the hose from the front of the engine directly to the heater core inlet. I haven't run with it in hot weather yet, so I can't say if it will add any discomfort to the cabin, but others have commented that it doesn't.
Here's some piccies of the general layout in my bus. Hope that helps,
    Regards

You might be surprised at how well it performs, given the size of the engine.

Haha - yeah I did a 3 hour round trip to see the truck and ensure the engine was slightly larger!

Tap looks right. The hoses wouldn't suit my setup. But I think there are different styles of heaters, maybe this kit suits a different heater to the one I have.
