Your plan is a good one - speak to the booster people.
I have to do the same thing and I will ask them if the remote-one on my car is up to the job as well,
Cheers Charlie
I've just taken the brake booster off a Series 3 and although I haven't checked it yet I think it needs overhauling/replacing.
Has anyone used the aftermarket replacement boosters from the UK. They are 50GBP plus freight so that's one option I'm just worried about the quality......
How easy is it to repair a booster ? 4 Wheel Drives used to get them done on an exchange basis so I guess any brake place might be able to do it. The problem is the way the unit is assembled, it looks like you could strip & assemble maybe once then the steel 'tabs' would be breaking off.
I also have to factor in the cost of the kit.
I might speak to Hydroboost, they specialise in repairing boosters.
Any feedback welcome.

You could always get the double diaphragm booster mod cookey is doing with his disk brake conversion.
I'm sure he would set one up on the same pedal box exchange basis as the rest of his kit.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Charlie,
I got a price for the pattern one locally (!) and I'll now look at getting one from the UK along with some other parts. Probably cheaper than buying a kit but quality might be an issue ?
The VH 40 & 44 in-line boosters are $195 changeover ($295 without changeover) from Hydroboost.
I'll speak to them later today about the cost of overhauling mine to see if it's worthwhile.

Were you talking about a 4cyl or 6cyl SIII?
In Australia most Landies with in-line boosters (4cyl 109", early 6cyl SIIA and 88") used the PBR VH-24, VH-40 and VH-44 instead of the Clayton-Dewandre used in the U.K.

All my Series III's (Both 109 & 88) have this servo booster.

Cost is $200 to overhaul the original with genuine parts.
Has to be re-assembled in a press.
Now tossing up whether to overhaul original or buy a **itpart aftermarket unit. Because it's 'safety' related I'm tending towards overhaul of the original. I'll sent it off tomorrow and wait for feedback from Hydroboost.
