You have made a good start but have you considered the 7:1 head and a supercharger?
Megajolt ignition system gets rid of the variables of a distributor and if you fitted fuel injectors you could run a Megasuirt fuel/ignition system.
I suppose it depends on what you want to spend on it, although most parts needed can be sourced from an old car or from the wreckers,

Not sure I'll have a look, I finally took the plunge and bought a timing light. Its worth it, my IIA was so far advanced that I was amazed that it was running. Decent boost in power and economy should improve, I also had a play with the fuel mixture and put in the proper condenser and with all this it's made it a lot more useable.
