Powerspark electronic ignition fitted to Series3 Landy.

    Hi guys,

Just got thro upgrading my son's ignition system on a SWB Series 3 by installing one of those electronic distributors from the Uk, Electronic Ignition, Home of the Powerspark electronic ignition and electronic distributor I have to say they are brilliant, fitting is simplicity itself and it went from the very start.
The LR runs extremely well, and the blurb says that the fuel economy will improve by up to 17% but that remains to be seen.

    Great stuff!

Is that the same as the Britpart kit?

Certainly the FIRST thing that will be going into Ela Diablo!

I don't know about the Britpart kit, but Powerspark offer conversion kits also.(log onto their site)
I went for the complete unit on the basis that there had to be wear in the original distributor.

    Good luck,

    Norm.

I fitted the dizzy cap leads to my D1 about 6 months ago. It has not missed a beat since, they are great value as well.

    Hello from Brisbane,

I have been contemplating making the changeover to a similar unit.

I was wondering how the system was performing now that you have had a few months to test it out?

Especially the fuel economy - notice much change there?

    Cheers,

    Hi,

I put the Powerspark distributor in my S3 SWB about 6 months ago.
I am very pleased with it. idle is lower, smooth and consistent, start is easier especially when cold and the dwell is static.
I checked the timing with a light last weekend and it hasn't moved since I put it in.
I haven't got any figures on the fuel consumption but it appears better on both petrol and LPG.
For the cost of the system I would replace the entire distrubutor and keep the old one as a spare, already set up, just drop it in to your LR or if a mate has points problems down the track.

    Regards,

    Phil

Yep I fitted one too, it's been great. That said, I've carried the old one the whole time.
