Yeah I found them to by accident which got me thinking about the whole idea. Further searching turned up the Corsa/Barina stuff.
Now I just need to figure put if I can fit one to the 101. Length isn't an issue, but the bits that stick out might, as well as the actual mounting being very different. I might see if I can get them to send me some better drawings and I might go and have a chat with my Engineer.![]()

The proplem with this setup is that it assists rotating steering shafts and in the Series landy, the only shaft that rotates is the steering column. The rest of the steering in the Series are push-pull rods.
I still feel that mounting either a P38a box (the only p38 part that's reliable) or a Toyo-nissan box on the outside of the chassis rail will be an easier conversion.
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
When I had my Series 2a diesel back in the late 80's I was looking at using a hydraulic ram to assist the steering.
In the end I just went to the gym as it was easier (for me)

I am sure the one I was looking at just replaced the steering damper, so it was just getting the hydraulics sorted for it, and I think the brother in law was looking at one off a falcon.
It was a while ago, but hope this may give you another idea.

Yes you can do that, but using an electric PAS still means you have to change the steering box to a manual box with a rotational input (either on the outside of the chassis or inside with the additional effort of modifying the front cross member) and also modify the steering column.
The only difference in that case is the mounting of a hydraulic pump on the engine or mounting the electric assist on the longitudinal shaft and chassis rail.
IMHO I'm still in favour of the hydraulic system on the outside of the chassis.

Do you know what linkage parts are required if one uses the P38 Steering Box ?? I have a complete defender system that I was going to use on my conversion, but I'm now thinking that if the steering box is on the outside of the chassis rail I could probably get away with using the defender radiator and intercooler side by side.
Any thoughts ??
Well I've decided to try out the EPAS setup from a barina, Just have to chat to engineer in between my busy schedule (Work, moving house, getting married, the usual stuff lol). All going well I'll be able to make a start close to Christmas and will photograph everything should it all work and post it up
