Good stuff dude.
I like your Lux,, top little cars to get around in. I tried to buy myself one many years ago,, but no go. They were few and far between, and everybody wanted the earth for them at that time. :(
thanks mate i try to keep her looking her best, im taking it to the car show next month
done fk all to the landy, been slack.
but i dropped by the landy my mate it giving me so i can get the gearbox out from the back of it so i can get it out of the weather (not that it will matter after sitting for 10 + years) and so i can inspect it.

all gears work, 2wd High and 4wd low works but the yellow push down lever for 4wd High doesnt engage,
what could be causing this. i dont know much about these boxes

The yellow knob (4wd) relies on the spring from the trans tunnel to lift it, so try shifting from Low to Hi while lifting on the yellow knob... you might it works.
i was messing around with it just now and took the cover off the front, found the shaft was sticking so a little wd40 and as good as new.
all good cheers:)

im going to go over the box a bit more and replace some seals as i might as well while its out and they have been in the box for over 10 yrs with no oil so best to be safe
Its good to finally get this build going
haven't done much lately been busy, but starting to strip and remove the bulkhead to trade it for a S2 bulkhead, i still have to remove the replacement one from the series 2 yet, probably take half a day if im quick
Just looking at the pictures of the gears I think there has been a fair amount of condensation in the box and I would pull it down to check the bearings and clean the surface rust off the gears. I would be expecting to see pitting on the bearing surfaces if it has been without oil and with condensation for 10 years.
Hope I am wrong but it would be worth the pain now before you get it all back together and find bearings failing.
got stuck in to the landy last week, removed the rest of the body and gave away the tray, the tray went today so now i can really get started, tomorrow im gonna clean the mess i made and then make more mess pressure washing the chassis and start removing the tired old 186 to make way for the more modern but still basic 200TDI.
The chassis so far looks immaculate and i dont think i will really have to touch it, but cant say until i blast the mud off it and see whats underneath, ive tapped over the common places with a hammer, seem solid.

cleaned up the driveway and pressure washed the mud and some of the paint off the chassis, it has a little surface rust over the chassis but solid still, ill treat it with some rust converter and prime it, now ive got to replace the broken caster wheel on the engine crane and remove the engine and gearbox
