It is always a bit of an issue and a good lesson to learn. One person in Sydney recently bought an SIII 109 on Ebay, when he got it home there was no compliance plate. He contacted the PO and asked about the plate. The PO investigated only to find that the compliance plate had been pressure washed off before sale and was still lying on the ground. Lucky.
Then there are the vehicles that have never been registered, one of the 1948 model 80" in WA was sold to Boulder Mines and never registered only used on the mine site. Was definately entitled to be registered after being first sold in perth in 1949.
The ex-Army vehicles are another example, many farmers buy them at the Government Auctions and take them back to the farm. Us mad people them buy them back for restoration and it can be a difficult case to register as they do not exist in the registration database. An expensive exercise.
