    exhaust manifold nuts/bolts/studs + grease?

I am busy replacing the exhaust manifold and gaskets on my S3 2.25 petrol and have new gaskets, studs, nuts and bolts for the hot box and manifold.
The reason I am replacing it is because when i removed the old one to fix a leak where it joins the down pipe i managed to shear all 3 of the studs at the flange.
The manifold looked a bit worse for wear so I decided to renew it.

Question is: Should I use copper grease on the studs/nuts/bolts on the new manifold to stop them seizing or am I wasting my time?
I intended to use the copper grease on the manifold to head bolts, nuts and studs, the hot box studs and nuts and the manifold studs and nuts.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Phil.

Use Loctite high temperature nickel anti-seize.

I also prefer to use brass nuts. That's what used to be fitted to cars.

If you can get long nuts that cover the entire thread of the stud, it prevents the end of the stud rusting and making it harder to get off. (Assuming long nuts can be fitted, of course. I've only used them on my Auster for this purpose.)

I use the copper paste/spray on lube.

if you cant fit long nuts with the domes fit a normal nut and then cut the stud down to size.

you can get copper nuts for exhausts in GJ kits and I saw some in super cheap in a blister pack the other day but im pretty sure they were metric.

at the end of the day even putting a non heat rated loctite in will help prevent the threads inside the nut/head from siezing to the stud by offering a boundry layer
