Well, the pieces of the biggest, most expensive and hardest to come by puzzle - the 2.6 litre Rover 6 cylinder engine are dropping into place bit by bit.

Today a set if new old stock .020" under big end bearings arrived. . Only have to find a set of undersized main bearings now and the machine work can begin!

These were found locally for a fraction of what the going rate is OS for these. I just need to get as lucky with the mains as the last set I saw went for 175 quid!

To anyone out there thinking of rebuilding one of these, think long and hard. Some of the parts are getting very hard to find now and once this rebuild wears out, it will be curtains for this engine for sure as far as this vehcle goes. Hopefully that is many decades away yet! . They are truly an enthusiasts engine, but I have no regrets, it will end up being a cracker of a vehicle.

Interesting how the planets align sometimes...

Found a set of .020 under main bearings in Old Blighty tonight. Yay!

    They don't post overseas.... Boo!

My Mum will be in England next week (currently in the USA spending my inheritance ). Yay!

Asked the supplier if they would post to my Aunties place in Lincolnshire 'We're in Stamford, where in Lincolshire?'

'Pointon - about 20 miles North'

'I know it well, I can drop them off there later next week'. Yay!

All I need to do is let Mum know she has some valuable cargo to bring home.

Oh, how the dollars keep flowing...

Good job SWMBO doesn't read this or I'd be in the poo as I dropped another $350 today, but at least Cam gave me $100 (who's car's this going to be in the end.)

Picked up the new flexible brake lines today - custom made in Australia, for around the same price as imports - I had them made 2" longer as the parabolics will stretch out a bit further. Also bit the bullet and bought a reconditioned head of Hodgo - I was just going to reco ours, but this is just easier.

He went to the effort of running it accross to a mates place that's heading to Expo this weekend - above and beyond - thanks heaps mate. . I should have it in my hot little hands next week sometime - Alien - I've got something else for you to bring back now...

New longer brake lines - DOT approved and made in Aus.

And fitted 10 minutes later - the front shocks are on as well, but not connected down the bottom yet as the springs still need to be changed.

Only the front springs, front track rods and the steering relay seal to go and the front bit will be 100% complete.

Those brake lines are a thing of great beauty. Just remember to go gentle with the brakes first time out!
    cheers,
