Registered as a 109, 2 1/4 petrol, canvas soft top, as that was the only one the RTA Murwillumbah could find on the system.
'couple of inches extra' makes no difference, was the comment from the female behind the counter, smiling.

Twist the distributor for the best idle! Otherwise advance until it pings under load, and then retard it a fraction.

Yeah, do it by ear. I don’t own a timing light but have multiple vehicles and have never needed one.

Blew up the new muffler ????
Coil was getting very hot. 14.6V at the coil with the after market Alternator, Dont know if this was causing problems, so added a little ceramic resistor.
Now 10v at the coil. Starts good with 10v and using an older Bosch coil, which says 'use with resistor' on it ????
The 'new' Aftermarket pigtail seemed a bit loose on rivet, between outer lug and inner wire. Later one evening, playing with the points, with ignition on, noticed an extra little spark coming from it when I opened the points. Used an good old one I had, soldering a new wire. Maybe another little problem solved.
Going to order a new Gromit for the booster. Old one seems a bit loose, so maybe causing vacuum leak. Just to remove another possible problem.
Im not sure the rebuilt fuel pump works properly. I dont seem to be able to prime the fuel line using the hand prime lever on it. It have new valves, gaskets, rubber and diaphragm. Should it primed up hard by hand. the fuel filter between it and the carby doesnt fill up with fuel and appears empty.
you can see fuel spurting through it, and Gilbert runs with what appears lack of fuel.
If i put my vacuum bleed pump on the inlet line and pump it up a little, it does drop, as if it is leaking back from somewhere.
Will check the inlet pump valve has seated and sealed and try again.
look forward to comments.
Thanks
