From my Series 3 parts book the item No 575166, it is a small brass switch body, should be readily available from any reputable dealer, cheers Dennis

Hi are you after the complete switch plate assy that screws onto the top of the pedal box assy with 4 screws and a gasket and has the switch screwed into it like in this pic?

    Hello from Brisbane.

The part is a little more complex than a flat plate with a hole.

I seem to recall that there is a swinging arm mechanism on the underside that has attachments for two nylon bushes that carry the pivot pin.

I have one disassembled somewhere - Will post a photo if I can locate it. The part is 569606 - the diagram in the parts manual will give you a good idea of what it looks like.

    Cheers

I have been in contact with a supplier in the UK that stocks a replacement switch plate for the single circuit brake configuration, can anybody advise if this will work on the twin circuit system on my series 3.Thanks

    Most likely

    Hello again from Brisbane.

Can't give you a definitive answer on whether the two parts are interchangeable - don't have the parts catalogue to hand to check the numbers.

However, I would have thought they probably are likely to be the same - basically it is the rotating action of the brake pedal being depressed that activates the swinging lever held by the nylon collars to touch the plunger on the switch to complete the circuit.

So, you would think the switches would be similar if the pedals are the same.

A better informed expert might set us right on that.

    Cheers

The pedal box and booster are the same only the master cylinder is different in the dual circuit system.

Your other option is to do the same as the military SIII did for their blackout stop lamps. They had a small angle bracket on the underside of the footwell which held the same switch mechanism which contacted brake pedal directly.

The same type switch were used on Holden Commodores so are usually available at any auto parts store.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    Windscreen Wiper Switch

I am trying to remove the switches from the instrument cluster on my series 3 and have gotten stuck on the windscreen wiper switch, I can see what looks like a grub screw in the plastic switch however it has no head to get a screwdriver onto, can anybody tell me how to get the know off.
